LARRY MASON GETS FIRST INDY CAR TEST!

Rosamond, CA – It was a dream come true for Larry Mason as he got his first test in an Indy car yesterday at Willow Springs International Raceway courtesy of Jim Webb Motorsports. Webb’s 7-Eleven liveried ’86 March Chevrolet finished second in that year’s Indianapolis 500. When he offered Mason the opportunity to test this 750-horsepower race car, Mason was super excited to get behind the wheel. Of course, driving one of these sensational race cars is not for the faint of heart or short of wallet as damaging one of these highly strung machines can cost well into six figures. In regards to the heart, Mason’s Polar M400 heart rate monitor measured over 150 bpm! “I must admit that I was a little nervous at first, but as soon as you start going faster, the smoother everything gets and that feeling of being at one with the car re-visits you,” said Mason. “I’m very grateful for Jim and Cheyne Lipfert for prepping the car and to Jim for giving me this opportunity. The car accelerated so hard it was an outrageous experience.” The Indy car has over four times the horsepower of the Formula Mazda that Mason has been racing and only weighs about 200 pounds more. That makes for extreme performance! It was a great day and only whetted Mason’s appetite for more.
