IRL Firestone Indy Lights

WHAT:
The IndyCar Firestone Indy Lights – A professional auto racing series designed to be “The Fast Track to Indy" for the IZOD IndyCar Series. The Dallara chassis is powered by a sealed Infiniti V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower. Weighing only 1,490 pounds, top speed is nearly 200 mph!

IndyCar signed a new television agreement with Versus in 2009 that resulted in a 56% increase in Firestone Indy Lights programming and content. The series is also showcased as part of a three hour IZOD IndyCar Series block on the network. In-car cameras and an experienced telecast team maximize total sponsor exposure and promotional benefits. All races will be broadcast on the Versus television network in high definition. The Freedom 100 race is broadcast live as part of their coverage of Carburetion Day. Live online streaming of practice, qualifying, and races is available at www.FirestoneIndyLights.com as well as on www.IndyCar.com. . In 2009 website page view traffic increased tremendously – 49 percent (year to date) and over 100 percent (month of May) compared to 2008.

WHEN:
The 2011 season hits the ground running March 27th on the streets of St. Petersburg and concludes on October 16th. See schedule below for a list of dates.

WHERE:
The series visits major markets* including: Los Angeles, Baltimore, San Francisco, and more. These permanent road courses, temporary street circuits, and oval track facilities have all been recently constructed or updated to appeal to race fans and sponsors alike. Outstanding venues including the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway will play host to the series on Carburetion Day before the Indy 500. The crown jewel of the West – the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach – is another highlight on the schedule celebrated as the ‘World’s Fastest Beach Party.’ The series ventures north of the border with three races in Canada at the culturally diverse and exciting cities of Toronto, Edmonton, and Quebec. HOW:
The series runs as the featured support race on the same day (typically) as the main event. This means maximum exposure and cost containment. Estimated attendance1 per event averaged over 70,000 in 2009.
